Reflections on Cool Fest 8:

The biggest most explosive single Cool Fest by far: three days, 36 performances, selling food and drink, recording everything quadraphonically, two stages. And by the end everyone reached unprecedented levels of burnout. We maybe flew a little too close to the sun on this one. But it was an unforgettable mixing of worlds and talents. Some incredible bands played their debut gig at Cool Fest 8 and went on to rock Montreal for years to come, and our roster of international performers was extravagant. Those 144 .wav files are under heavy protection on some hard drive somewhere, waiting for the right moment to be excavated.
