I seek to reflect with my artwork the sour, acerbic but ultimately hopeful aesthetics of the music I’m most attuned to. The Flag Paintings series was conceived in 2008, and inspired by work by Steven Parrino and Joe Brainard. The -30- Heirlooms series was conceived loosely in 2008 and fully realized in 2013. It is conceptually inspired by my work in journalism and the writing of Marshall McLuhan, and aesthetically inspired by the work of Andrea Zittel and some of the music I enjoy.
